Minister of Health and Wellness Delivers Keynote Speech at Washington University of Health and Science 2022 Graduation Ceremony
On Thursday, August 25, 2022, Washington University of Health and Science (WUHS) located in San Pedro
Town, Ambergris Caye, is proud to announce that the Graduation of its 2022 class that was held in Fort
Lauderdale, Florida where 240 graduates received their Medical Degree. With more than 750 attendees,
to celebrate this milestone with the 240 WUHS Graduates, were the WUHS Board of Trustees, the
President, Executive Vice President, Dean of Clinicals and Dean of Pre-Clinicals Sciences as well as students
and their families.
The Welcome Address was given by Executive Vice President welcoming the Honored Guests, Board of
Trustees, WUHS Administration and Faculty, and live streamed in from London, UK WUHS Dean of
Clinicals, Dr. Paul Courtney and representatives and students from Belize Campus and WUHS partnership
universities in India, Palestine and Turkey. WUHS was especially honored to have representatives of the
Government of Belize, Minister of Health -Honorable Kevin Bernard, CEO – Dr. Julio Sabido and Director
of Health Services – Dr. Jorge Polanco.
Hon. Kevin Bernard, Minister of Health and Wellness delivered the keynote address. In Hon. Bernard’s
message to the WUHS 2022 graduates, he explained that despite the odds against them, they persevered
and are now Medical Doctors. He went on to share with the audience that despite Belize’s size and
population, Belizeans find a way to succeed.
WUHS’ President and Executive Vice President who both expressed, “We are grateful to be able to be
celebrating this milestone today and are very proud to announce that of the 240 graduates, 139 are
actively in residency in the United States of America.”
WUHS would like to congratulate and wish these graduates all the best in their future endeavors and
encourage these graduates to remain proud ambassadors of the University. The stars are the limit.
