Welcome to Washington University of Health and Science ( Belize ) . Our faculty, staff, and students welcome all those who possess a servant's heart, a scientist's curiosity, and the desire to improve the lives of others through the practice of medicine.

I'm delighted to welcome you to the start of this academic year. For those of you who are new to the School of Medicine , on behalf of our entire school, I extend an extra "welcome!" and look forward to meeting you soon. To those of you who are returning, welcome back! I hope each of you had an enjoyable break and found some time to reflect and recharge.

We have much to look forward to this year. Beginning in September, we will be resuming our Dean's Series and, among other school-level events, we can look forward to a series of Health Sciences Center-wide seminars and special events that are being organized by the president office.

As you embark on this next leg of your academic journey, whether you're new to WUHS or a returning Student , I encourage you to keep your "why" in focus this year. For some of you, your "why," or your purpose, might still be in its developmental stages, and that's okay. We're here to help you find and shape it into something that is unique to you. Regardless of what led you here, please know you have chosen Medicine at a time when its significance to the world couldn't be greater.

I am delighted that you have joined us and I look forward to helping to facilitate your journey toward a successful and rewarding career in Medicine . Professional education is rewarding, fulfilling and challenging, all at once. As an executive vice president my job is to make this journey as seamless for you as possible by helping you navigate a rigorous academic curriculum.

We provide guidance, support and administrative assistance for many of your academic and non-academic needs. The Medical program is full of people ready to help you with professional development, academic initiatives, financial education, student life and much more. We all have a part in determining whether each of us can achieve personal and academic success. Success will depend on you: your motivation, your workstyle, and your sense of personal responsibility, but it also depends on the partnerships that develop which serve and help you. I hope you will not be reluctant or timid at all about reaching out to form your own partnerships with our staff. For their part, they are eager to join you in making such partnerships work.
